The Louisiana State Exhibit Museum just wrapped up the annual Educators Exhibit. Every summer our amazing Art Supervisor puts out a call for pieces created by art teachers in our district. Its an amazing show every year and the best part its completely FREE! That enables a lot of parents the opportunity to take the kiddos to see their teachers works! I entered three pieces this year. The two mixed media pieces are old book pages and tempera paint. Each painting represents one of our two dogs. Abby is our Blue Heeler mix and she’s reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Meanwhile our Beagle mix Kate is checking out The Lord of the Rings!

I also snapped a few pictures of some of my favorite pieces! The batik featuring the Hurricane Katrina refugee is amazing. Its even got a panel of sheer fabric that displays photographs of rescue crews during the aftermath but I think my favorite part about it is that it was created by my very first art teacher. I would not be where I am today had I not walked into her class in the sixth grade!
